Our Story
“Creating memorable moments through the gift of beautiful, fresh flowers”
It was with such humble and sincere intentions that our founders, started My Fair Lady in 1964. Over 50 years on, Jaruwan Cheong, fondly known amongst her friends and family as Jae, has taken on the mantle of the business, continuing in the family legacy.
Formerly a banker, Jae has now re-channeled her passion for banking to the retail flower business. Her invaluable experience in finance and the corporate scenario has helped her transform My Fair Lady from a traditional florist to a more sophisticated and innovative floral service provider, offering skilled consultation to clients and elevating their image and event ambience to ever-higher levels. Having grown up exposed to the business, this just came naturally to her.
My Fair Lady currently provides services for an impressive clientele – from renowned hotels and boutiques to property developers and automotive dealers as well as Malaysian Royalty. The list includes Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Impiana KLCC Hotel, Sunway Pyramid Hotel, W Kuala Lumpur, Ralph Lauren, Chopard, M Pavilion, Istana Alam Shah, The Royal Thai Embassy, Selangor Properties Berhad, Selangor Dredging Berhad, Bentley, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce, just to name a few. More about our clientele
We firmly believe that flowers have immense powers of communication, whatever the occasion – happy or sad. Whilst enhancing a happy event, a bouquet of flowers can also bring great comfort to grieving family members during the passing of loved ones. Flowers have a tremendous power to help express human emotion.
On a personal note, Jae’s husband, a pilot, who was chosen in the repatriation efforts to bring the remains of the deceased passengers, pilots and crew members of Malaysia Airlines MH 17 Flight that was shot down in July 2014 while flying over eastern Ukraine airspace. When he landed at the airport, he witnessed an overwhelming scene – the whole place was filled with thousands of bouquets of flowers. He was so touched by the sight. When he shared his experience with Jae, they both were reminded that life was indeed precious, and that in that particular moment, flowers – many from strangers – helped to share and ease the pain.
The experience also made Jae more determined than ever to grow My Fair Lady into a platform for people to channel and express their care and love towards others in the form of flowers. With passion and commitment, she has inculcated her values into her team members, and groomed them to approach their tasks with creativity, dedication and a great sense of pride in their work.
“Where Tradition Meets Innovation”
My Fair Lady aspires to become a leader in the act of giving flowers – bridging their traditional values with innovation, to make special occasions even more special, and sad events more bearable.
